Along with geckos, I also breed Blaptica dubia (orange spot) roaches. These roaches are a non-pest, tropical species. They can't climb smooth surfaces and don't fly either. They are smaller than hissing roaches, and much softer bodied. They are very long lived and are odorless. For these reasons, B.dubia roaches are the IDEAL FEEDER INSECT.

Once I made the switch from crickets to these roaches, I have NEVER once bought crickets again. I have also, never had a roach escape. I now have several breeding colonies that provide all the insect prey needed for my geckos.

The MRP series of Super Foods is a group of feeds designed to be mixed with water to create a "smoothie" type of food. It is designed for frugiverous reptiles that are often fed baby food or soft fruits as part of their diets. It takes advantage of the attraction to fruit to provide a completely balanced diet that requires no additional supplementation. It is designed to eliminate the need for feeding insects to the designated species.

This is the most tested and developed of all the Super Foods, and was the motivation for developing the whole line. At Sandfire Dragon Ranch, Rhacodactylus geckos have been raised for multiple generations exclusively on these diets.

The obvious advantage of eliminating the need for feeder insects makes this one of the most revolutionary foods on the market.

Mix two parts water with one part Gargoyle Gecko Diet by volume. Mixture may seem very liquid at first, but will gel after several minutes. If your geckos are eating baby food now, they may be reluctant to switch overnight. Add Gargoyle Gecko Diet to baby food at increasing levels with each feeding to switch them over completely. Feed geckos in the evening. Remove uneaten food the following day.

This package contains an oxygen absorber packet that removes oxygen to less than 0.1%, decreasing oxidation and preserving the freshness of the product. This product, unopened, should have a shelf life of at least five years. Once opened, contents should be consumed within six months. Refrigeration will extend freshness of product after opening.

MRP Base

Analysis: Crude protein, Min. 35%-Crude Fat, Min. 11%-Crude Fiber, Max. 23%- Moisture, Max. 6%-Ash, Max. 5%-Calcium, Min. 2.6%-Calcium, Max. 3%-Phosphorus (P), Min 1.2%-Vitamin D-3, Min 5000 IU/Kilo.

When used as an exclusive diet (no insects):

Mix 60% MRP Base with 40% MRP Nectar BY WEIGHT NOT VOLUME. Add water to desired viscosity. Mixing at these ratios, replicates the nutritional analysis of the original Crested Gecko MRP formula.

When used as part of a balanced diet (combined with regular insect feeding):

The recipe above may be used as a supplemental diet, (part of a balanced diet), but if your geckos have a sweet tooth, you may use this recipe when also feeding significant amounts of insects. Mix 50% MRP Base with 50% MRP Nectar BY WEIGHT NOT VOLUME. Add water to desired viscosity. You can just mix two new equal size Base/Nectar containers together dry and save for future use. Insects should be offered several times a week, and they should be gutloaded with Repashy Superfoods “Insect Gutload”, and dusted with the Repashy Superfoods “Calcium Plus”.

The MRP Base may also be used in conjunction with fresh fruit, babyfood, and fresh honey to create a complete diet or supplemental diet. There is no way to be precise with this method because different fruits have different levels of moisture, sugar, minerals, vitamins. Using a good average estimate for moisture and sugar content, a good place to start would be the following two recipe’s: For a complete diet, mix 33% MRP Base with 66% fresh pureed fruit/ fruit babyfood/ fresh honey BY WEIGHT NOT VOLUME. For a supplemental diet, mix 25% MRP Base with 75% fresh pureed fruit/ fruit babyfood/ fresh honey BY WEIGHT NOT VOLUME. These are only guidelines, and if using this method, careful monitoring must be used, and results may vary. Use this method at your own risk.
